In the 2026 Network for Public Education report, Ohio’s overall ranking out of 50 states and the District of Columbia was 38th, or the 14th worst. That was an improvement compared to the 2024 report, when Ohio was 42nd, or 10th worst. But that’s not because Ohio increased funding to public education or created more accountability laws around homeschooling – among the measures the report considered.
