Missouri City man sentenced for charter school embezzlement scheme

A federal judge this week sentenced Richard Rose, 65, of Missouri City, to 36 months in prison and ordered him to repay more than $335,400 in restitution, according to a news release. Rose pleaded guilty in August to conspiracy to commit mail fraud as part of a plea agreement.

3 indicted after $400k stolen from Memphis area charter school, officials say

During an investigation, it was found that a Memphis area charter school had nearly $400,000 stolen from them.

The investigation by the Tennessee Comptroller’s Office with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation resulted in the indictments of Corey Johnson, Robert Williams, and Michael Jones, a release said.

The three men had leadership positions at the Memphis Academy of Health Sciences (MAHS) charter school.

Memphis charter school leaders indicted; nearly $400K stolen

Three men who held leadership positions at a Memphis charter school have been indicted, accused of stealing nearly $400,000 from the academy, the Tennessee Comptroller’s Office said Wednesday.

Corey Johnson, Robert Williams, and Michael Jones all held leadership positions at the Memphis Academy of Health Sciences (MAHS) charter school, which operates within the jurisdiction of the public Shelby County Schools system.
