Charter school dodges public records requests, prompting AG lawsuit

Following months of the Mystic Valley Regional Charter School claiming an exemption to the state’s Public Records Law and ignoring requests, Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell filed an enforcement action against the school to make them turn over the withheld documents Monday. Mystic Valley received at least 10 public records requests between January 2022 and November 2022, a release from the AG’s office states, each time declining the requests.

Maury County’s school board has voted down a controversial charter school for the second time. On Thursday, the board narrowly rejected an amended application from American Classical Academy, associated with the Christian, conservative Hillsdale College.

Oakland media academy closes its doors

The Oakland County Academy for Media and Arts, authorized by Lake Superior State University, put the majority of equipment and furniture at the school up for auction, including chromebooks, basketball hoops, early childhood items, kitchen equipment and lockers. The auction netted just over $11,000.

Frame was among 26 people indicted in a $480 million telemedicine fraud scheme. She pleaded guilty in July 2020 in what is so far the largest fraud operation ever prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Southern District of Georgia, according to a news release.
