In addition to her lack of qualifications, we believe she is unfit. We are deeply concerned that the World Wrestling Entertainment industry she chose to develop glorifies violence and bullying, thus presenting negative behavior and role models for children. It became a billion-dollar empire while disregarding the health and safety of its employees. We are also deeply disturbed that she and her husband are presently the target of a lawsuit brought on behalf of former ring boys, who allege that the McMahons ignored the sexual abuse of five boys by a former employee.
Ms. McMahon’s primary objective will be the expansion of “school choice,” which is code for charter schools and the public funding of private schools, including religious schools and homeschools.
As stated in the Education Agenda of the America First Policy Institute, a think tank formed in 2021 by McMahon and other advisers from the first Trump administration, a stated goal is to promote “backpack” funding of education, which will underfund our public schools until they are forced to cut services to students or close.
What can we expect immediately if she is confirmed?
- Dramatic increase in funding to the charter school programs.
- A rollback of the CSP regulatory reforms we fought so hard to get.
- Support for the Oklahoma religious charter school.
- A campaign for voucher tax credits and ESA vouchers for selected groups.
- The micromanaging of local curriculum, including threats to withhold federal funding for curriculum she and Donald Trump believe to be “incorrect.”
- A rollback of the rights of LGBTQ students.
