Day of Action to Stop Vouchers! Please Join in.

Published by

On behalf of the Network for Public Education, I want to thank you for taking action to help stop Betsy DeVos’s plan to sneak an unwanted voucher program for military families into the defense budget.

We are not out of the woods yet – the full committee markup is set for May 9.

In advance of that meeting, NPE has joined a coalition of groups in a national social media day of action today to lobby members of the committee with emails, phone calls and social media pressure to demonstrate the widespread opposition to the plan to divert Impact Aid to private school vouchers.

I’m calling to ask that you to oppose any amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) that would seek to create a federally funded private school voucher program.

I am strongly opposed to current proposals to use public school Impact Aid funding for private school vouchers for military families, and I am not alone. I stand with the majority of groups that represent military families and with a coalition of over 50 public education advocacy organizations. Please support the public schools that 80% of military families choose, not vouchers for the few.
Thank you for taking additional action on this vital issue!
