Most objectionable is the false hope charters hold out to parents of something special, an American disease of looking for an advantage over others. If charters did — although they don’t — offer a superior education, all students would be entitled to that level of learning. “Separate but equal” is unconstitutional under the facts of Brown v. Board of Education and “separate but unequal” is even more so.
