Tennessee’s education commissioner testified before a House subcommittee on Tuesday that more than half of the students currently using school vouchers have never attended a public school. Department of Education Commissioner Lizzette Reynolds was discussing Governor Bill Lee’s school voucher expansion plan before the House K-12 Education Subcommittee. “Most of these children that are in these schools have not been in a public school prior to them entering into this school. So, we’re talking 53 percent right now,” Reynolds said.
