NPE Executive Director Carol Burris provides feedback to Flynn and Turcotte in this article. They write, “Carol Burris, executive director of the Network for Public Education Foundation, a public school advocacy group, called Helms’ move to the Association a ‘clear conflict of interest.’ She said both Pinnacle and the Association were profiting from the relationship, since Pinnacle and the Association would both make money off any schools Pinnacle opened under its umbrella.”
