Tell Congress: Cut the Charter School Programs. Reduce Waste and Fraud

The CHARTER Act would ensure that every charter school is in full compliance with the Elementary and Secondary Act of 1965 (ESEA) and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) by denying federal funds to any charter school that enters into a contract with a for-profit entity to operate, oversee or manage the school. When passed, this Act will close the loophole that profiteers have exploited.

It’s Time to End Federal Funding for Reckless For-Profit Charter Schools

Certainly, even charter advocates and the parents who send their kids to these schools can agree that school operations that put profit-making ahead of the needs of children are not worthy of taxpayer support. The CHARTER Act is the sorely needed step to reform that practice.
