We’re excited to announce the official launch of the Network for Public Education’s Grassroots Education Network! We currently have 6 national organizations and 58 state and local organizations working in 25 states participating in the network, and this is just the beginning. We hope you’ll take some time to check out the organizations that have joined.
We have also started a closed Facebook group for members of the Grassroots Education Network. We envision it as a place where leaders and members of the organizations in the network can gather to share resources, ask questions and learn from each other.
And finally, don’t miss the first edition of the Grassroots Education Network Report. We have three reports for you this month from network members in Florida, Georgia and New York, and you won’t want to miss them. These groups are doing amazing work that we can all learn from.
Click on the previews below to read and share each report, or you can find a link to all three here.
So why doesn’t it feel like the children are winning? Why are the children still in 3rd grade? The children ARE winning… but the process takes time.
A big battle looms in Georgia, pitting the usual big-money, backroom supporters of a state takeover school district against the rest of us.
The pressure must not falter or wane, and we must raise our collective voices to speak for all children and all of our public schools.
In the coming months we look forward to growing the Grassroots Education Network, and to sharing more about the crucial work member organizations are doing around the county to preserve, promote, improve and strengthen our public schools.
Please share the reports from this month’s newsletter with your own networks. Informing the public is our shared responsibility.
Thank you for all that you do.
